Daytona 2011/2012 recap

The 2012 World Karting Associations Manufacturers Cup race at the Daytona International Speedway was a mixed event for Brandon as he was learning the track as well as the new engine package. He was racing Komet Junior and our MCR Komet engine was a beast all week long. After a very interesting couple of days, Brandon had a DNF in the first days final and a 28th place finish (out of 42) in the second days final. The next WKA race is being held at the Carolina Motorsports facility in Kershaw SC.

Brandon wins 2 LIKA titles in his first year in Junior Yamaha!

Brandon did very well in the 2011 LIKA championship:
  • Overall LIKA championship winner!
  • Long Island Championship Series (3 races) winner!
  • Vanderbilt Series Championship Second place winner

The racing at LIKA was great this year, and all the kids got much better throughout the racing season. It was close nose-to-tail racing at the end of the season and everyone had fun! The testament to the amount of good racing was that the class was getting bigger towards the end of the year, not smaller. Next year we will have some kids moving up from Cadet to the Junior Yamaha field, and it should make the racing even more interesting. We are looking forward to it!!!

Brandon in second place for the GearUp Challenge Formula Junior series!

With only two races (out of three), Brandon took the second place slot in the all new GearUp Challenge Formula Junior class. With this second place victory Brandon won a new, custom GearUp suit which he is very excited about.

We want to thank everyone who created and busted their butts on the new series, it was great! It is rare to have a new series run as professionally as this one was!!!

See you next year!!!

2011 winding down

2011 is still going good and Brandon is doing well in both the Long Island and Englishtown championships. He should bring home trophies for both. We are going to run an HPV for the last few races.

WKA Manufacturers Cup - Beaverun - The good, the bad and the Ugly!

On July 8 through 10 Brandon raced at Beaverun in his first WKA event in the Junior Yamaha division since moving up this year. The racing was great, and very hard. Brandon qualified in 40th spot the first day out of 49 karts. They were taking 40 karts for the race, but had a Last Chance Qualifier race that included 36th to 49th places. Brandon started 5th and only needed to finish 5th, but got hit on the start and finished 7th. His day was over.

Getting ready for the Manufacturers Cup!

The last couple of weeks we have spent getting ready for the Manufacturers Cup race at BeaveRun. We went out there two weekends ago for a test and got some good track time. I hope we can have a good showing out there for our first national in this class. I didn't put Brandon in the first three, I felt he needed a bit ore time in the new kart, but he has done very well so far this year and I am hoping he will at least qualify for the show at BeaveRun.

Wish us luck!!!

Englishtown May 8, 2011

Brandon had some good and bad runs at Englishtown May 8th, finishing 3rd in the second race, and 5th in the final. Thanks again to Action Karting for putting the video on YouTube, it is available here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U2JX5wPg8Pc.

Brandon starts 2011 with good results

It has been a tough but good start to the 2011 season. In every race this year Brandon has gotten spun out, but he has done very well in his first three races in the new and much tougher class. You can go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OiNOV8gLU-4 to see the latest race. He was doing good and got spun out on the last lap. Oh well, for his first year he can certainly be proud with his showing. The kids at Englishtown are very fast and really know what they are doing.

Brandon Wonder wins three titles in 2010!

Brandon Wonder has won the LIKA trifecta by dominating the 2010 season in Cadet. Brandon took home the 2010 LIKA overall championship, the 2010 Long Island championship and the 2010 Vanderbilt championship. To top this off, Brandon holds the track record in the Cadet class for 2010. Without MCR Engines behind Brandon these championships would not have been attainable. Wonder Racing would also like to thank Mike Giessen and Scott Ferris for their technical help, and driver coaching.
